A Thesis about Picture Books
What does it need today to be a good picture book, that remains in memories over several generations? In this theoretical work, I have tried to find out and to illustrate in which different ways image and text meet in the picture book and can be used in different ways to create an exciting and unique medium. The narrative dramaturgy of image and text is comparable to that of theatre and film. There are countless combinations of techniques at the visual and the verbal level. In the digital world, one looks at the picture book, which certainly benefits from other media and styles. The textural and pictorial components have changed in their application in part and evolved to meet our changing viewing habits.
